He Whispered,
“My precious child, I love you and will never leave you, never, ever, during your trials and testings.
When you saw only one set of footprints, it was then that I carried you!”

The first time I ever read the “Footprints in the Sand Poem” I can remember the very last line as if the Lord was whispering it right to me!

The Famous FOOTPRINTS IN THE SAND Poem

One night I dreamed a dream.
I was walking along the beach with my Lord.
Across the dark sky flashed scenes from my life.
For each scene, I noticed two sets of footprints in the sand, one belonging to me and one to my Lord.
When the last scene of my life shot before me I looked back at the footprints in the sand.
There was only one set of footprints.
I realized that this was at the lowest and saddest times of my life.
This always bothered me and I questioned the Lord about my dilemma.
“Lord, You told me when I decided to follow You, You would walk and talk with me all the way.
But I’m aware that during the most troublesome times of my life there is only one set of footprints.
I just don’t understand why, when I need You most, You leave me.”
He whispered, “My precious child, I love you and will never leave you, never, ever, during your trials and testings.
When you saw only one set of footprints, It was then that I carried you.”

I think I was 14 yrs. old when I first read the poem and I remember thinking how cool it would be to have Jesus carry me in my time of need. It wasn’t until my adult years that the poem began to have so much more meaning to me.

I bought everything with the Footprints in the Sand on it. From plaques too posters, keychains to necklaces, I had it all.

As a matter of fact for several years that is all my mom had to buy me was that or the Legend of the Sand Dollar and I was overjoyed!

I’ve scoured the web for the best Footprints in the Sand items so you don’t have to.

My wish is for you to find that perfect gift for yourself or someone else at a click of the button and not have to scour the web like I did.

Look around, check out all the cool stuff that is available to you and enjoy knowing that through your most darkest days you were and always will be carried by the Father, our Lord.

‘It was then that I carried you. The final words of Footprints in the Sand have always resonated at a very deep level with me. To me they epitomize our journey in faith and are of particular value to us during periods of trail and hardship. The last three years of my life have not been easy with the worry of serious family sickness and yet another redundancy.

It has led to a great deal of anxiety, frustration and insecurity. In this life we all get our crosses to bear and we can get extremely weary when struggling with problems that appear insurmountable to us.

We can feel like we are alone, isolated or even abandoned. Footprints in the Sand serves as a wonderful reminder that no matter what happens in life we will never be alone and that it is during the really difficult times that God is closest to us.

The poem has always brought me peace and hope during testing times and helps me to renew my strength so I can keep soldiering on.
